I need a favor

Can someone measure ( or tell me from first hand info) the distance from the front edge of the barrel extension to the gas post on a carbine length barrel ?
I'm building my first upper ( from a barrel blank) and I dont have all the parts yet, but want to get this barrel cut and still have my handguards fit.

Thanks

btt: sorry I just don't have a stripped barrel but I am planning to pull things apart to build a different pistol upper for my AR-15 pistol... I will try to get you some measurements when I attack it.

Sorry it took so long to reply, a broken water system took out my comuters ( and my basement ) so I have been absent for a while. I am still looking for this info. I have the barrel contoured, the extension thread cut and the entension installed but I have not drilled the port yet, and my bolt/carrier should be here this week!

Gas Port Location - Carbine Barrel

You asked for gas post, I "read" gas port. And the info is for that.
Is it the sight shoulder(on the barrel) you may also have that.
If it is for AR-15.
The Distance From The Front Edge Of The Barrel Extension, To The Center Of The Gas Port Is 7,0." Dead On The Money.
This Is for 16", 223 barrel.
I do not know if you need it for 300 whisper, 223 or other. For 223 the gas port hole vary in size according to barrel length.

from the front of the extension the shoulder for the handguard cap is 6.750 +/- 0.005" and the center of the gas port 0.300 +/- 0.005" from the shoulder
