By the way, I read your post on the jouster forum and I see that you examined very well the two Phrobis examples you have.
I posted the same question about the "dots" on the pommell, back in 2005.

I did not receive any answer, but I came to the conclusion that the dots on the pommell and the levers are all suppose to help the armorers, when assembling/disassembling the bayonets, to know which is the front/back parts of the pommell/levers and that you can find them on some models and not on others plus some strange combination like the dot on the pommell and no dots on the levers.
