1990 Commercial Buck - Phrobis PAT PEND marked M9 Bayonet

Following is a great example of a 1990 Dated Buck - Phrobis M9.... I want to offer Eric a special thans for allowing me to feature another of his knives on the website!

Following is the description from the auction:

Quote:US M9 Buck Bayonet. Right side ricasso marked M9 PHROBIS III U.S.A. PAT. PEND. Left side marked BUCK 188 U.S.A. X. Bayonet is in Near Mint condition. Blade retains full tip and shows no signs of sharpening or being used to cut wire. Comes with a correct Buck Scabbard with Buck cutter plate and warning decal. Sharpening stone intact and untouched. This is what I believe to be a very rare 1990 Commercial M9. The reason I say this is because from what I have been able to find, Buck removed the PHROBIS III marking on the left side of the ricasso starting in 1990. This 1990 M9 still has the PHROBIS III PAT PEND. Marking. Either way it is a early M9 in near mint condition.

I just recently found these pages.

And got interested in the Phrobis PAT PEND M9 bayonet.

I have a exactly similar bayonet I purchased about 15 years ago.

Have you found anything new about this variant?

There really isn't much more to say about this bayonet than what is stated above. It's a 1990 commercial model.
