25x30/30 AI or 6mmx30/30 AI???????

Hi, I am new to this forum and just wondering if anyone has experience or info about either of theses cartridges. I am planning a new barrel for my contender and I THINK MAYBE (always open to new ideas) I have narrowed the choice to 25x30/30 AI or 6mmx30/30 AI. I target shoot more than I hunt but, am also thinking of a good caliber to start my 10 year old grandson on paper and then whitetail. Any input or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

Safe shooting
Doug

OK, I'll bite.. nobody has answered in 24 hours.

Although there is an affinity an affection for the .25" there are not many bullet choices for it. I believe the better choices for a 30-30 wildcat would be the 6mm/30-30 ot the 7-30 Waters... both give awesome availability and a wide range of bullet weights and manufacturers with the heavies going to the 7mm side. In fact the 7-30 Waters has eqaul or better performance than the 30-30 on deer with the ability to load down to 100 grain bullets. If you want a lighter recoil the 6mm/30-30 loaded with 55 grain bullets should provide a light recoil fast round.

Have you looked at the 6mm and 7mm TCU rounds? They are adequate for short range deer and even less recoil but enough energy to knock down steel targets.

I think a 6mm/30-30AI would have too much pressure for a Contender. T/C custom shop chambers barrels in 25/35 Winchester. That would get my vote. If your grandson needed more power, you could get it opened up to AI specs. Of course you could get more power and heavier bullets in a 6.5 or 7mm bore.
