2 hogs with 300 Fireball build

Sun. evening went over to my nieghbors bottom to try far a hog and the 300W. Minutes before dark one came out and was moving fast so I had to head him off. When we met, He was about 50yds and still moving fast. I made a bleat call and when he stopped I put the sight on his head and pulled the trigger. Pow and a hard thump, he flopped right over and never moved. I held my gun on him for a couple of minutes for a second shot if needed. By then it was dark and I had to use a light and a stick to find the bullet hole. The 220gr RN hit half way between his eye and the bottom of his ear, I could not have asked for more, he weight from 130lb to 150lb. I waited for maybe an hour to see if any more would come out since I could see a little with the moon being 3/4 full, but nothing showed. On the way out I walked along the side of a field with joining woods. I came upon a spot the looked like a fallen tree and stood still. I noticed the dark spots were moving and then some noise. They were about 10yds, I picked out the biggest spot and hit the light, found a head then pulled the trigger. Pow and a hard thump. I am back now to the computer, I was getting a cup of coffee and looked out the window and see 3 bucks and a doe. I'll be back.

Wow, you won't believe this, but I need to finish about the hogs first. Ok after I shot the hog it went down and the other went maybe 30yds and stopped. I started toward them picking out the biggest dark spot to light up. When I got past the hog I shot it came to and started squealing and the others started running to wards me and it and I noticed my gun did not chamber. The hogs must have saw me move, heard me, or winded me because the stopped and started speading out and away. I went after the biggest passing some smaller ones but it did not stop for a ways and when it did a house was in line about 200yds away. I tried going around for another angle but they must have winded me and went in the woods. I then started after 2 that went out into the field. They would not stop long enough for me to get another shot and disappered in the weeds. I should have shot the smaller ones! I still had a great time not haveing them run off when I shot. I counted 12 and there was more.

Sounds like a great time.....I love hog hunting. No license necessary, No season, no bag limit, you can hunt at night, spot light, and use a suppressor

One note in Texas you do have to posses a hunting lic. All other methods are ok, for example we hunt them with gen 4 night vision goggles & scopes.

The last two years there was a stipulation in the Texas hunting regulations that you did not need a license if the Landowner had attested that pigs were predating his property and allowed you to hunt them.

If you didn't have that written statement, pigs are classified same as "exotics" and do not require a "big game" ticket.

Not there any more?

No hunting license is required in texas to kill hogs causing damage to one's property

Straight from TPWD http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publicat...hunt_licenses/

Exceptions: a hunting license is not required to hunt the following:

* Coyotes, if the coyotes are attacking, about to attack, or have recently attacked livestock, domestic animals, or fowl.
* Depredating feral hogs, if a landowner (resident or non-resident) or landowner's agent or lessee is taking feral hogs causing depredation on the landowner's land.
* Fur-bearing animals, if the hunter possesses a trapper's license or if the fur-bearing animals are causing depredation.
