I'd expect the length of barrel where the bullet would lodge in the bore to be highly dependent on the lubricant used and the bullet alloy. Certainly using long barrels isn't good for shot to shot ...

Good information. I'll try some of the Winchester truncated hollow points. The SD is impressive. Subsonics are particularly sensitive to velocity variations causing vertical stringing.
