300 BLK Compatibility w/300-221 Question

I know the general answer is there is no definite answer because there has never been an official specification for 300-221 and a ton of different manufacturers have been cutting the chambers.

Mine is from J&T Distributing. I'll call them but I'd be surprised if they offer the service.

Listing people doing the conversions sounds like a great use for this thread!

Anyone offering a 300-221 to AAC Blackout conversion service?

Just wondering if anyone out there with the skills to do it is planning on offering a conversion service once the PTG conversion reamer is available?

I'd buy the tool and have a local gunsmith do...

That is a 5 foot holdover on a 250 yard shot if you were zeroed at 100 yards.

Did you just guess at it and get lucky or had you figured out some of it in advance?

Congrats on the venison!

Wow, great accuracy improvement!

I just tried something that worked out pretty well.

This is on a J&T 300-321 16" upper. I was getting about 2" groups or so out of it at 100 yards with subsonics (Hornady 208 AMaxes and SMK 220s)....

Let me know on the pre-cutoff stuff. I'd definitely be interested as cutting them down is the worst part for me.

How was your accuracy? I've got a subsonic load for 168 grain match king type bullets and they're keyholing a little at 100 yards. They're grouping about 2.5".

Well, I picked up some 168 grain Hornady bullets to test with. Running at about 1080 fps (10.6 grains AA1680).

Cycles just fine, but doesn't lock the bolt back on an empty mag... no big deal...

Thanks for the info! I think I'll give the 168 grain bullets a try.

They also have 175 grain match bullets for the same price. They look like SMKs except they have an exposed lead base. I would...

168gn SMK sub-sonic w/carbine gas system

I'm looking for a little cheaper sub-sonic load for my AR15 based whisper. I currently have it running great with 220 SMKs and 11.6gn of AA1680. It is a 16" barrel with a carbine length gas system....

Same story here... never split a case.

But I do prefer using .223 because it is less expensive and I get much more concentric necks.

First make sure your gas port is opened up to 0.125. Mark the exact location of the gas block and then take it off (the gas tube should be pinned to it and comes off with it). If you've shot it much...

For what its worth, I'm using 11.6 grains of AA-1680 behind a 220 SMK and am getting 1080 fps. Cycles the bolt every time and locks back on an empty mag. I have a 16" barrel with the gas port at the...

2.170 with 220 grain Sierra Match Kings.

But both of those work in regular GI magazine and PMags. I use the PMags...
