Operation is smooth and easy. The side charger seems to require less effort than the standard rear charging handle. I just have to remember to use it. You wouldn't believe how many times I've pulled the trigger and had nothing happen because I'm so used to semiauto.

I could see this being handy as hell, especially if you could get a gas block with a thumb screw, so you could select manual, or automatic cycling.

That is one very interesting AR!

What is that scope mounted in? Kinda concerned about it since it only has 297 screws in it.....

It's a Spuhr mount. Made in Sweden, available through Tactical Night Vision. The most solid scope mount I've ever seen, and priced accordingly.

Looks good, i have been thinking of doing this with a 338 as of late. Glad you like it!

I made a left hand no-gas AR Upper for a friend and while it worked just fine it was very loud when you cycled the bolt.
I think the AL receivers make a lot of noise compared to a normal bolt gun.
It's fun to make such things anyway!

An ar-10 with a side-charging reciever will not move the bolt with subsonic rounds so it is a very handy setup. When using supersonic rounds it is over gassed even with a rifle length gas tube.
