upper velocity limit 300 wtf?
What kind of top end velo's are you guys getting with your wtf's?
|
2300fps out of a 16"
|
130gr 30-30 flat points at 2250fps out of a 16" barrel with no excess pressure signs. Pretty consistant load, decent accuracy and devastating on water jugs at 100yds. (the 220gr subsonics just punch straight through the jug).
110gr 30 carbine tracers at 2500fps 100gr round nose plinkers at 2600. Frank |
5 shot average of 2232 out of a 10" with 110 V-max. Primers were flat, so backed it down to 2050 fps. No pressure signs at 2050, brass should last for a while.

2800 fps using Remington Accelerators at 47000 psi, Accurate #9, 16" AAC Rem 700 barrel. They should work with AR-15 too but I haven't tried it. Those are 55 grain .224 bullets in .308 polycarbonate sabots. DON'T SHOOT THEM THROUGH A MUZZLE BRAKE OR SUPPRESSOR!
I was just playing around to see what they'd do. I see no use for them or for any supersonic 300wtf loads for that matter. For supersonic 30 caliber ARs I have an LR-308 and an LR-30S. The 30 Rem AR and 7.62x39 seem to me to be better choices than any 300wtf for a supersonic 30 cal AR-15 but I don't own either. The ballistic characteristics (wind deflection and retained energy) of low supersonic light 30 cal bullets are poor compared to similar weight bullets for the 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel. |
speed
2250 125 gr nos ballistic tip and H110 , 18.5 grains I think. Gun and reloading notebook is in VA and I am in Uruguay hunting

Encore SSK 26 inch barrel
|
3200 fps with 16 inch barrel and 55 grain bullet and sabot.
|
2150fps with 110gr V-Max in a 10.5" bbl
|
My "engineers" and I are playing with a cartridge that does everything a whisper does...and we've hit 2650 with 125's.
Seems to feed real well on the AR-15 platform. |
