While I currently load .300 Whisper on a single-stage press, I would eventually like to set up a toolhead to use on the Dillon 650.
I had tried using the small rifle tray in the case feeder. The way it is set up, cases like a .223 will always drop into the tube base down. However, the shorter .300 Whisper case will fall into the tube either up or down, depending on how it aligns in the casefeeder plate.
Anyone set up to load .300 W on a 650? Did you have to modify the casefeeder plate, and if so, what did you do?

You can use the small or large pistol tray.

My Casefeeder has a small metal plate that's clipped onto the area that the case drops from. (Sorta like a money clip.) If you move it so that it makes the hole that the case drops into smaller, then the case neck will be supported before the balance point of the case is reached and it will only drop the head. This makes the cases fall in the correct orientation.
Hope this makes sense. If not I can take a picture.
EDIT: Here's a good explanation of what I'm talking about. (but with a homemade casefeeder.)

At least I think so. I didn't realize the metal clip could be adjusted. Or maybe it wasn't intended to be, but it moves easily enough, and it doesn't appear that it would move out of adjustment while in use.
I haven't scooped the pile of 9mm brass out of my casefeeder yet to actually try it out, but this would likely be the ideal solution.
Thanks!

My 650 just came today and after loading some 9mm, I want to set it up for my Whisper. Can you use the casefeed adapter and bushing for 223 or do you need to use some other?
