For brass check the classifieds, I think Ranger Dave will still do brass for those that want it.

231 is way too fast. Maybe try a lite load, but use caution.

2400 and lil gun are as fast as most guys go:

JDJ Himself say:

"I would appreciate it if you would delete the Accurate #2 data and say that in SSK AR-15 and M-16 no powder faster burning than Accurate #9 should be used. The gas system is timed for sub sonic with powders with burning rates from #9 through 1680."

I didn't spot this in a FAQ, so sorry if this is a FAQ. But what is the gas port diameter and distance from the chamber in SSK AR uppers?

I'm asking because gas pressure in the gas tube is limited by the size of the port. Cycling is a different matter because that is mostly a function of reciprocating mass and spring constant. Obviously an insufficient impulse will cause short cycling and result in a failure of some sort.

Excessive impulse (within limits) would simply throw your brass much further than necessary and beat up the buffer. I don't know if it is possible to burst the gas tube or not without trying to shoot underwater. Even then I would expect the locking lugs to go first.

Either way, I would reason that the peak pressure for 300-221 should be the same as it is for .223 Remington or .221 Fireball. Minimum safe energy is what gets the slug out of the bore. That rule should apply even if you used Bullseye. I'm sure we would all agree that powder is much too fast.

I've had the best luck with AA1680. I was able to get proper cycling with both 150gr and 220gr subsonics with an unaltered M1S upper.
