It's hard to say if this is a military issue piece. These knives were used in a limited degree by the SEALs, but they found them to be inadequate for their needs and experienced a problem with tang breakage. I think more of these knives were sold on the commercial market than actually issued. What kind of background do you have on this specific knife?

Hi thank you both for responding to my post .I have been collecting knives for a few years and searching for information about them on the internet for a long time both of you know a lot about M9 bayonets and I have learned a lot from looking at your websites.

The person I purchased the knife from did not know what he was selling or anything about the knife . I know it is a rare knife anyone know how many were made? How many were issued? .I think your SEALS broke a lot of them and then changed to the mad dog knife.
