Phrobis 3rd Gen w/stamped number on reverse

Hi guys:

Since I'm new to your forum, I apologize in advance if this has already been hashed out. I searched for a thread on it, but couldn't find one. Here goes:

I am aware of the "chevrons" being pulled back and numbered to be released to both Phrobis and Buck. Is there any information about a 3rd gen Phrobis with the same type of stamped in numbers on the reverse ricasso? I have one and it is NOT engraved nor etched in. It is stamped and looks just like the "chevron" stamping with their nubmering system.

Any info or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanx again........gunz8541

Welcome to the board. Please don't ever hold back from asking a question. Everyone learns from it.

Any chance of posting or emailing a picture or two?

Yes, Sir.
I'll try to post one up here as soon as I figure out how to do so.
Thanx for the encouragement.

Pic: 3rd gen w/ stamped number

Let's see if this works. Here is the picture of the reverse ricasso showing the number "3" stamped in.

Apologies

My fault on the picture. That is the only one I have and my camera is down. Ther is a current auction on Ebay with markings just like the one I am talking about.

I believe the mark shown is a identification number that was added by a unit armorer. I've seen bayonets with various types of markings like paint, magic marker and electic pencil etching. The individual units were responsible for keeping track of their own inventory.

That is what I suspected, except that when we were marking our weapons, we used a dull yellow paint. I have just never seen a unit number or ID number actually stamped into the blade like this. It just seems unusual to me.
