Should we still be calling the chevron a "rare" bayonet? 26 were dumped on the market within a 3-4 week period. They are still showing up on ebay on a somewhat regular basis. The price has fallen drastically from the $1526 that the initial auction closed at. Recent auctions have seen minimal if any action at all. I think that the chevron market is going to be dead for the next few years.

Can you really see many more coming on the market? they only appeared because 1 lucky man came across them , other than that have you seen 1 from any other stock?

I agree with Lee!
There are still around 1000 or so chevrons out there, but.....how many of them were eventually destroyed or lost, after more than 20 years?
In my opinion, what happens on ebay auctions is not a general "rule", and should not always be considered when discussing about the rarity of a bayonet.
I still believe the chevron (numbered or un-numbered) is a very rare and collectible M9.
Good luck with your auction Lee!

I don't think anyone can say with certainty if more chevrons will or will not show up. Yes, the ones on the market right now came from one source, but I can see this same thing happening down the road where someone comes across a large lot of used M9s and pulls a number of chevrons out. This might not be a highly probable scenario but it is very possible. Having spent many, many years searching for a chevron I can atest to the fact that it is a very elusive piece, but I do not feel that they have the value today that they did six months ago. Apparently I am not the only one who feels this way as the last auction closed without reaching reserve and the current auction is hovering around $200. It will be interesting to see where it ends. I do believe the value will climb back up over the course of time, unless another group is found.

Lee, I assume that this chevron auction is yours, so is it a spare one you have listed in this auction?

Well Lee, I suppose one can not have enough of the Chevron M-9's. I too have 1 spare....One of them has the marks on the blade for testing the hardness of them and the other doesn't have any...I wonder if Bill Porter can tell me how many of the knives are pulled off the assembly line to check the hardness? I have one 4-line phrobis this way... Good luck on your auction I am sure it will go above the 500.00 mark, that is US dollars..

Regardless of my philosophical postings from the other day, this is still the time to buy a chevron if you don't have one. I can see them becoming hard to find in the near future (barring another "find") and those who didn't get one when they were available will certainly be kicking themselves for not taking advantage of the current opportunity.
