question on new build

I am in the process of building a .300 whisper AR. Unfortunately it will take some time before I can get a suppressor. I am going to be using a 16'' barrel. My question is when working up loads without the suppressor what velocity should I aim for? I ask because I am assuming when I add the suppressor it will increase the velocity of the rounds and I dont want them to go supersonic. Basically how much velocity increase should I expect from a suppressor when shooting 220 grain subsonic rounds?

Not all suppressors will give you "boost". It depends on the design of the baffle stack of the suppressor as to whether your velocity will get boosted when the can is on. I would load to your target velocity for now and worry about the boost later.

try to keep them between 1000 and 1050. With the cans I've shot, there isn't much boost when shooting sub loads unless your load is throwing unburnt powder into the can where it ignites. Even then, I've only noticed a 21 fps change (308 Trail Boss Load). However, those results came from a 10" barrel. I would not expect that to be an issue with a 16" barrel and the smaller charges found in a whisper.
