Phrobis INT'L with no SPAIN

My apologies if this is a repeat, but I am unable to find my original post.

We are Troy and Lori Zaumseil and we live in Anchorage Alaska. Troy's uncle has given him a fairly nice sized collection of knives. We are not collectors, and will be choosing a few to keep for sentimental reasons--the rest we intend to offer for sale. We have done some research on the M9 Phrobis Bayonet and are at a loss to find a match anywhere to help us identify it. It is stamped with the patent number on one side and on the other it is stamped
M9
Phrobis Int'l

There is no "spain" stamp underneath....we cannot find any other Phrobis International knives that do not have the Spain stamp. Is it possible this knife is a fake? Could it be a prototype? Any help would be appreciated. It is currently listed on Ebay, but we are considering withdrawing it, because we are not sure it's authentic. We would appreciate any information!!

Item #290175088226

Thank you

Troy and Lori

I saw this bayonet on ebay the other day. It is a commercial Phrobis M9 bayonet that was made by Marto in Spain. The earliest blades did not have the "SPAIN" marking on them. Then they were using an ink stamp to apply the name under the stamping. Finally the had a die made that incorporated the "SPAIN" marking. It is not a prototype, just one of the earlier blades. The scabbard is not the original one for this bayonet but is an after-market piece. Unfortunately these do not seem to be as desireable as the US military bayonets, even thought there were far fewer of them made.

Thanks for the info. We appreciate you taking the time to answer. Wonder if you might have any ideas on a bayonet Troy just found in his old military locker. Definitely a bayonet, old wooden handle. The blade has a "C" with a crown on top of it at the base on one side and just the little crown emblem at the base of the blade on the other side. The only markings we can find are 3/K.8 No. 188 on the cross guard. So far internet searches haven't turned up a thing. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
