Laminated shims for the gibs

I have a 101 sears / atlas lathe, 10". I was reading the manual for this lathe and they talk about laminated shims in the ways. I took mine apart to clean it after I brought it home, but there were no shims at least as descibed in the manual.
Any body know about shims for the gibs?

I remember seeing these things somewhere while reading about lathes. The shims are laminated and can be peeled off for different thicknesses. Good Idea, not sure how they hold up tho or where on earth to get them.

Shims are used to take out the slop in the carriage as it fits on the bed.
