Question LAN-CAY, variation ? contract ?

Hi, mates !

Iīm very interested in M9 bayonets, but Iīm not skilled ...

Whatīs the specific designation, (variation ? contract ?), of this particular LAN-CAY ?

When this, particular, pattern LAN-CAY was introduced ?

Whatīs the meaning of such stock-no. ?

Thx. in advance,

R.

Some more questions:

Do I have a "2nd Contract Product Improved M9." ?

Are they still manufactured by LAN-CAY for the US Armed Forces ?

Why the sheath of this bayonet doesnīt show a grindstone ?

I know, many questions, but I try to learn.

Thx.,

R.

Your two bayonets, in the photo (with the old grip and new grip was made by Lan-Cay for an U.S. ARMY contract.
About the new ERGONOMIC GRIP, one info here : http://www.m9m4.com/index.cfm?currentpage=34

About this : Why the sheath of this bayonet doesnīt show a grindstone ? :
Just a question of marketing-price for the maker and maybe because the bare stones caused damage to clothing..
About the number 126 in blue, many soldiers have this on their weapons, on the M4 carbine stock, some marking-paint blue or red, white...

http://www.m9bayonet.com/lancay-m9.html :
The second contract called for black oxide finish so a black finish was applied to these blades and they were included with the second contract. Early style first contract blades with the "M9 / LANCAY / USA" type marking, a second contract late style black finish and only two hundred made, the rarest of the production group so far.
