am trying to get this page setup:

http://www.m9bayonet.com/development-m9.html

And I have discovered that I can't find a photo of one of the early Titanium knives made by Buck under contract from Phrobis II. I don't know if this is the same knife as is fairly comon as a Buck Titanium or something else...

Anybody know for sure and do you have a photo I can use?

The early Buck titanium is the Model 186, not to be confused with the current model 186. I have one, I'll send or post some photos.

Thanks Bill!

Here is a description from Bill:

Buck only made these for 1 year. The knife was made so that it could be taken apart. So many people took them apart and either lost parts or couldn't get them back together that Buck was inundated with knives to reassemble. They discontinued it and later came out with an identical knife, only riveted instead of being held together with socket head cap screws. I think it's the model 560, but I'm not sure.

Pictured is the knife with it's titanium belt hook, attached allen wrench & instruction sheet. Also is a spare parts kit that Buck put together to send out to people who lost parts and didn't send their knife back.

Here are the pics...

The Buck 186 Titanium Take-apart model transitioned in the the Model 560 XLTi that has rolled rivets. I found the 186 listed in the '87-'88 catalogs. By 89, it had moved to the 560. We used to get alot of the 186's back in a bag with a request to put back together, also the screws used to strip out alot.

Buck 186

I bought three of these original 186 titaniums folders from Buck when I heard they were being discontinued and later purchased one of the riveted ones to actually use. Though I bought the first three "right", I have been disappointed in the market response since they quit making them. I don't think all that many were made and I would think their value should be a lot higher than it is. Any ideas on why it is not?
