Hello all. I've recently perfected applying KG Gun Kote to Buck 184 Buckmasters. This is the the same stuff Chris Reeve uses on the one-piece line of knives. This stuff is super durable, extremely wear resistant, and impervious to salt water as well as most chemicals and corrosives. This not only dresses up your knife, but also adds an extra measure protection. As I'm sure some of you have seen, Buckmasters are prone to a little bit of rust in the wrong enviroment and lack of care, no steel is truly stainless. I've currently got black, military spec gray, OD green, desert tan, and brown. I thought I would offer this service to anyone interested in getting this done to their own knife. The process of blasting and coating the knife will make it look like new again as far as scratches are concerned, I have yet to come up with a way to fix broken tips or chipped teeth though, but I'm working on it
I'm also not sure how what the keeper spring in the Buck sheath will do to the finish, I would guess nothing at all or perhaps shine it up a bit where it hits. None of my 184s are in stock sheaths anymore, I can tell you it's unaffected by kydex though. This coating goes on so thin that the edges of the blade and saw teeth are virtually unaffected, I'll leave it up to the owner to freshen up the edge if they think it needs it after they get it back. I think $50 should be a fair price, and that would include insured UPS shipping back to you within the lower 48. Sorry, but I'd rather not handle international orders, I've had more than one kinfe get lost or held up in customs selling knives on Ebay. Examples of coated knives can be seen
over in the gallery. Contact me if you are interested, and feel free to post any questions here. Thanks.
