300 Whisper Advice

Hello all!
I am planning on building an AR-15 in an adult caliber (not a .223 fan), I think I have decided on the 300 Whisper. I won't be shooting suppressed, so I am only interested on full power loads (yote killer!). Couple of possibly stupid questions: Will a .223 bolt work? Mags? Best source for barrells and flash hiders? What twist for full loads w/110-125 grain bullets?
Thanks in advance!

How big a "yote" you planning on shooting? I have been using a 17 HRM.... Works great.

I usually use a .308 w/110 grainers @ 3000fps. Takes them out real well & never needs a 2nd shot. It does however make a mess of the hides!

I'll bet it does but then if you are not interested in the hide I guess it doesn't matter that much. Kind of like exploding dog, huh? Ever tried trapping them? The bolt should work if you use a matching cartridge face. There is a limit to what an AR15 will hold up to you might want to go to an AR10 for a beefier receiver and a bigger case like 308.

Nope, that would be to much like work. I just like to shoot them! That's why I think the .300 would be great! Not quite so much overkill, well maybe a little.

I'm not a real fan of the AR10. I've got a few guys that bring Armalites to my range and everyone of them seems to finiky about what they eat.

I think I've about got it figured out what I'm going to do. I still would like to find a 20" barrel, everything that I've found so far is 16".

20 inch barrels will burn a bit more powder and may reduce flash and awe some. I am sure you will find one. Maybe Quarterbore will give you some info on where to find a barrel.

I just ordered a barrel (16") from Del-Ton today, now for brass and dies. I'm getting more exited the more I read!
