25/221 Fireball for Cast Bullet shooting

I am a big 25 caliber fan with 6 rifles in the quarterbore. I have shot quite a bit of cast in the 25/20 but got to wondering how a 25/221 fireball would be for cast. I have 8 different molds for 25cal from 65 gr to 120 gr.

It would appear this would be a good case for cast bullets. I am thinking about getting a CZ 527 in 221 Fireball and having it rebored to 25 caliber.

AM I CRAZY FOR THINKING ABOUT THIS??????

Bill,

I don't think your off track at all. If you like the 25/20 the .25/.221 is a logical "upgrade". Higher working pressures and velocity over the 25/20(I would think) and the ability to shoot heavier bullets than offered in the .221.

Hmm, now about a .25/223...

Let us know how the project goes...

Wes

Alternative to 25 Fireball

After researching the 25 fireball idea, it seems to be a very expensive project. I may be able to cobble together a 25 BR cheaper with access to reamer and barrel blank.

Anybody have experience with this cartridge. It has a larger capacity but less than other alternatives.

Let me hear your thoughts.

Bill
