Finally recieved my suppressor

Shot a few rounds that I had worked up without the supp. velocity was 1025 fps using 220 SMK 10 grns AA 5744 and a Rem 7 1/2. Seemed kinda loud. Loaded 4 more and shot them over the chrono. Velocity had increased to 1107 fps with the supp. attached. At the temp. that day they were probably going supersonic. Kinda surprised that the velocity increased that much. I've reduced the load by a couple of tenths and will retry next days off weather permitting.

What is your rifle's barrel length and gas port position?

Congrats on the successful transfer of the suppressor!

Yup ... easy to get them just a little too fast. Makes quite a difference in the way they sound.

I was wrong about

the gas port position is 4 1/2" in front of reciever. My 223 gas port is 8 3/8" in front of reciever. Was going to try some more today but it was too windy.
I also have some 200 grn Sierra OMT and some Hornady 208 grn A-Maxes.

It has been my experience that 5744 is MUCH quieter than 1680 and a bit quieter than 2400.

Still waiting on the weather

Maybe next week. Loaded up 7 with 200 SMK and 9.7 grns H110. I shot 4 yesterday 2 with the gas system on Lo pressure setting and 2 with it turned off. Gas on there seemed to be some noise coming out of the action(not mechanicla). Sounded about like a 22 LR with the gas off.
