New to the Forum- Seeking Your Council

Just joined the forum because I'am very interested in the 300 whisper and the knowledge you folks have is unavailable elsewhere. So thank you in advance and I apologize for my inability to contribute at this time. Here's my dilemma. I'm on a tight budget but would like to build my own. I've heard the most affordable way is with a used Savage 10 or 110 action, add a whisper barrel and some other modifications. Please advise?
Respectfully, Woodrow 1953

It will work but reliability on extraction will not be 100%, a howa 1500 in 223 would be the way to go for 100% reliability for cost but thats still a expensive rifle when done. If you have a ar15 then a upper will be the cheapest/most reliable way to go for $600 ish "if you already have a ar15 and mags ect".

Thanks for the quick response. Where can I find a 300 barrel for the Howa and the Savage?

You would have to have someone do the howa for you, the user spook does them when he gets a chance and does top notch work. On the savage I have no idea, but I am sure tp555 or spook can spin one for ya.

Short case will pitch farther out causing it to fall off the bolt. Usually savages turn into single shots with such short cases.
