Questions about a 184

Hello,
I have owned several 184s over time but bought one about a year ago that is different. Wondering if anyone might be able to help me out with it.

Anyway, the knife is a pre -patent pending version in dull dark finish with a pommel compass. Differences are the guard/hilt where the pins attach look to be ground uniformily on each side and the blade looks to have a little different dimensions (the space from the front and back of the forward small saw teeth) than others. Normally I would think someone just ground it themselves, but it is super accurate, symetrical and had to be done before adding the battleship grey finish. The sheath also has a longer web loop than the others i have owned.

In the 2nd pic, the bottom knife is the one I am asking about. In the 3rd pic, it is the top one. Nice planning, eh.

Its matching case is on the right in the last picture.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
-Richard

Interesting 184

Richard, I have looked everywhere for something about your knife. No luck. One of the best sites for information is survivalknife184.com. It is owned by Keith Harvie at keithharvie.com. He references two early models from '84 that were not released to the public, but he doesn't have pics of them. You may want to send him pics and have him check it out for you. I agree...it looks factory. You may have a very collectible piece.
