Powder type (ball, extrude or flake?) for the .300 whisper.

I was looking at the link to the powder burn rates to see what range the Whisper is in and I have two questions. Im asking before I do the research, so dont bash on me to bad.

Within the range of powders that can be used for the .300 whatever....What is the preferred type of powder (ball, extrude or flake)??

Does the gas port location make much of a difference when picking a powder? I have a 16" pistol position with a TP555 3-way adjustable gas block.

Im headed up to town and try to pick up some powder, think Ill try some H110 and maybe another if he has anything close.

I guess I'll be looking at each powder to see what it is, since the Burn rate chart doesnt show what type of shape the powder is...

Heres the list that Ive gathered

My build:

10.5" .118" pistol port with std. gas block

My powders:

Ramshot Enforcer and 2400 using 208 AMAX's at 8 grains each.

You are gonna be hard pressed to find a faster burn rate in an extruded powder. The family of RL7, 4198, etc. are about as fast an extruded powder as you will find. Same goes for ball with the Ramshot X-Terminator burn rates being at the top (and the same family of burn rate at the RL7 and 4198.

4227 and 1680 seem to be the most accurate for my AR

well I just got back from the shop $75 less to my name. they were out of 1680 so I told him to get me a can when he reorders next time, and call me cause I wasnt in a hurry to have it. i did get a can of H110 to start with and a few primers. Oh and a 30 round Pmag to try out.

Gonna be looking for some bullets now. So close I can almost smell the gun smoke

I hope I can use the H110 for some Barnes 130gr TTSX hunting loads. If not, I'll just load them in my 308.

H110 Works for me

Lots here hate it but it works just fine for me with 125 and 150 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. I get good groups and the deer seem to fall over pretty good when I shoot at them.

I used H110 with 240 grain SMK, but when I started reducing charge weight to get to 1050 fps SD and ES increased significantly. I started using N110 and things went better. I think I will also try some AA 1680 because others who have experimented with it have liked it. I am only really interested in subsonic performance, but I did load some 147 grain LC bullets just to plink with.
