Custom Barnes TSX-110 available.

Barnes has a limited number of TAC-X-110s which are designed to expand at a lower velocity than the normal 110 TSX, making them better for shorter barrels or lower velocity cartridges.

Call 800.574.9200 and order part #30834 for the 30 SBR (short barrel rifle) 110 grain TAC-X.

Price is $31.65 per 50.

Thanks for the link. I sent them an email but hadn't heard back. Funny how reluctant we are to pick up the phone and call these days....

I ordered 300 today. Should make a nice little bullet. Do you know what the lower velocity threshold is for these to expand? I can't get Barnes to answer the phone or reply to my email (which is odd for them, I've had good luck with prompt responses in the past).

It is hard to give an absolute velocity, but they told me it was a few hundred fps lower than the normal 110.

Was it the standard TSX or the low velocity SBR version that was used in Brassfetcher's ballistic testing of the 300 BLK?

I got the response back from Barnes today. The standard 110gr .308 TSX, which is what was used in the gel testing AAC had done, will expand down to 1700-1800 fps. The SBR 110gr .308 TSX will expand down to 1300-1500 fps. That should make them very useful at 300BLK/300 Whisper velocities.

New Tac-X bullets on left, .224 53gr XFB on right for comparison.

The 30 caliber bullet impacted water at 2218fps.

Once I test this on some game I'll share the results.
