TP555 gasblock and FF tube question

I just sent my Form 1 off a few days ago, so if everything goes as planned, I will be ordering a 10" barrel from Paladin Machine sometime in January. I am really liking the idea of using a YHM lightweight FF tube, in Specter length. This should put just a small bit of barrel sticking out past the tube. My question is this: Will I be able to get to the adjustments on the gas block easily with some minor cutting of the FF tube? Also, does the gas block use a standard thread pattern for the adjustment screw, so that I can get a longer screw that will stick out past the tube if need be?

I just used a Midwest Industries tube that is clearanced for use with gas piston systems that might clear the gas block. It was 10" long, just a tad longer than the YHM Spectre.

A few points.

The multi position PMC adjustable blocks do not use a threaded screw but rather a cylinder with varying hole sizes that rotates and held in place with a horseshoe (I forget the real name) retainer on the oposite side.

The multi position blocks tend to get either carbon, copper, or both built up if left in one position for a number of rounds. It makes it very difficult to change the setting without proper leverage.

I used a YHM diamond FF that I picked up off the AR15 EE and dremeled off some of the area.

Sometimes I can manage to change the setting but I had to resort to pliers or some other device to get enough leverage to change the setting.

I should have just got the hex head adjustment since I can't manually adjust most of the time anyway.

I leave mine in the full open 90% of the time anyway.

The blocks are still a great product at a great price and made by a great guy but know what to expect.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I may just keep some sort of tool to adjust the gas block on my rifle somewhere. Still getting all of this figured out. On another note, I do have my lower assembled, and used a friend's .223 upper to shoot it today, the Timney trigger is sweet!

Get a grip plug from dpms or what not and stick your tool in there, or a magpul miad grip since it already has one

I am not sure if tp555 still makes them with a small rod for a lever, but I was lucky that the one I got had it. Some may not like my standard tube or the way I milled out the opening to work the lever. but it is fuctional, an extra tube on hand , and smooth on the hand while hog hunting.

I have had good luck with tp555 gas blocks/barrels and YHM hand guards. Used both the light and diamond models. I could access the adjustment on both. Will probably mill a little of the diamond guard away to make it easier. Only thing I had to change was turn down the diameter of the adjustment 'screw' a little (not removing the lip) to clear the hand guard without trouble. It was the only part of the adjustable block that had clearance problems for me.

I used a rifle length YHM Light Rail on a 16" tp555 barrel with an adjustable gas block. Everything worked out fine ... forearm did not require modification at all. A port fell in just the right position to allow selection of the port in the gas block.
