South Bend or Hardinge lathe?

I am looking for a good metal lathe for small projects, mostly with my grandkids to teach them the precision of metal work vs wood lathing. I found a South Bend CL 199 z 42 inch with a newer single phase motor, or a Hardinge DV59 3 phase. Same price ($900ish) and both have extra parts and tooling. Which one would you all recommend?
Thanks for your help!
