JP Enterprises trigger kit

Anyone know much about the JP Enterprises AR trigger kits?

I just bought and installed one. It was a PITA but I got it done and it seemed to work perfectly until I shot it. I fired about 5-10 rounds and then it doubled on me. I thought it might have been bump firing, so I racked the bolt and let her fly shut...............It slam fired. Luckily it was pointed in a safe direction.

I followed the directions and watched the provided video. I don't think I did anything wrong with the installation. I have called and emailed JP but since it's the weekend I haven't spoke to anyone yet.

I put the rifle up and won't be shooting it anymore until it's fixed. I'm just wondering if JP will fix it for free??????????? I spent close $150 on the trigger kit, the darned thing should at least function properly.

Which kit? I installed some yellow springs of their a freind gave me and too them out ASAP. Way too light for my tast, but then I like a single stage milspec trigger.... go figure!

It's the JPFC-1. It came with 2 springs, the trigger/sear, and the disconnector. I didn't like the hammer spring so I left the stock spring in. Much better sounding anyways. SMACK!!

I took another look at it awhile ago. I racked the charging handle and let er fly shut...........slam fire (empty this time of coarse) I did this several times with the same result each time. Iturned the rifle over and noticed the trigger pin was walking out. I repositioned it and now I can't make it slam fire. Hopefull I have solved my own problem. I think I need those pins with e clips on the ends

Any chance your spring tails are not over the pin?

Springs appear to be in the groove but it doesn't hold very well. And yes I did follow the timing videos.

I ran about 50 rounds through my rifle today while keeping a close eye on the pins. It ran flawlessly. So....................I guess this was my fault after all, but at least I fixed it myself. I went ahead and ordered some JP oversized anti walk pins so this should never happen again.

FYI

What you were experiencing is not a slam fire as that is when the firing pin hits the primer hard enough to set it off due to the bolt and carrier momentum but the hammer does not release.

You were experiencing hammer follow which is when a trigger is not operating properly and releases due to a mechanical failure.

You usually see hammer follow on a 1911 that someone has set too light or the sear is not holding the hammer properly.

I've seen 45s double and go auto at matches.

I suppose you are correct. I just assumed it was called a slam fire because it fired when the bolt slammed shut. My bad.
