What 9mm suppressor do people use for 300 Fireballs?

What 9mm suppressors work good on a 300 Fireball? I'm thinking about dual use with subsonic loads. Maybe a 338 Spectre in addition to a 300 Fireball too.

TIA,
Sid

I am using a YHM 9mm Wraith XL QD. Seems to be quiet compared to my YHM 762 Phantam QD. The Wraith XL weighs twice what the pistol Wraith does but is for carbine and Full Auto rated. I Use it on my M16, 9mm 10 1/2", Marlin Camp 9mm, 300 Fireball, some 22LR. I use both of these on several different guns.

+1 on the Carbine QD Wraith.
I accidentally put it on my 223 since the QDs can interchange but it is for my 30-221 bolt gun.
I've wondered if I could run it on my 223 Safely and I guess you can.

I also have the 223 QD, I would have crapped myself if I did that. I would not have thought the aluminum can would take that pressure.

Yep. The Bowers can (mine is a .45) works pretty well.

But the Trident-9 is still noticeably quieter... and shorter.

Garrett, I see you have the upgraded Bowers can, did you buy it that way or send it in? And how do you like it? I was thinking of doing the samething, send it back and get a couple adapters too.

Thanks

Based on the serial number, my can is probably from the first production run of .45 caliber silencers. I bought it around 10 years ago (I just checked my paperwork. I started the transfer from the dealer to me in Apr. 2000 and it seems like the transfer to the dealer took around 3 months.)

After I'd sold off my MAC10/45, I emailed Tom about swapping out the original thread mount for a 1/2-28 mount, since I no longer had anything in .45 to use the can with. At the time, he told me about the interchangeable system he had in the works and suggested I hold off for a few months until it was ready.

Before that, I had used a number of thread adapters so I could mount the can on a variety of guns. The problem here though, is that you are still threading to the coarse MAC threads. The adapter can work loose from these threads as easily as when the can is mounted directly on them. You still have to watch for this. The new mounting system completely does away with this. If the can starts to work loose, the fine threads still keep it in alignment with the barrel. With the coarse MAC threads, you could almost guarantee getting a baffle strike if the can loosened the least bit.

Being forewarned, I was probably one of the first to send in my can for the upgrade. Tom went through the entire can and replaced everything except the original tube. The new baffles are of a different design than those from 10 years ago, and they seem to give a little better sound reduction.

I've currently got mounts in 1/2-28, 5/8-24, and the Uzi barrel nut mount. For whatever reason, that can really shines on the Uzi. The Trident-9 sounds better on every other host that I've used, including on the .300 Whisper, but the CAC45 sounds just as good as the Trident on the Uzi for some reason.

YHM rep told me the Wraith 9mm XL suppressor would be OK on the 300 FB in subsonic only. He specifically told me not to use it for any supersonic applications.

Good to know.

I did some testing last weekend on my 30-221 tikka.
Load was PP 175 FMjBts(crap bullet but cheap) with 7.0 longshot in 221 fb case.
Started with the Wraith 9mm sub can on QD flashhider. Groups were poor(about half the width of an IPSC head@100yds). Some rds going supersonic. 1050-1125 fps
Removed can but left on QD with exact same results except louder.
Removed QD and threaded on YHM Phantom 7.62. Groups shrunk to half or less and ALL rds were subsonic.
Now I have to rethink what can to run on that thing
