South Bend Model A?

I just bought a South Bend Precision Lathe Model A Cat# CL644Y Ser# 40785NAR9. Everything seems to work and is mounted to a very heavy duty steel cabinet. I paid $650. Nothing looks abused overly loose or wore out considering it is likely 40 or 50 years old. What have I got, when was it made and how did I do for my money? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
