Case Volume of 1.355" Case?

I was playing around with making some cases while I am waiting for my barrel and I noticed the case volume in Quickload is based on a longer OAL then 1.355".

I am only seeing about 23.1 grains of H20 volume in my test cases which are LC reformed and trimmed to 1.355".

I don't have the barrel or chamber gauge yet so I wonder if maybe I am bumping the shoulder back alittle too much.

What are you guys seeing in your 1.355" trimmed cases?

Case volume

I noticed the same thing...that QL shows an OAL of 1.390" as opposed to 1.355". The volume listed at 24.95gn H2O, I would assume is based on the caliber designation of .300-221 in their drop down menu. In having compared the capacity of mil surp 5.56 to a necked up .221, I've found varying differences as much as a couple of grains.

I've never come to expect that great of accuracy from a newly formed case. Once you fire-form (fingerprint) the new brass any variations would be due to case wall thickness and should be minimal.
