Trailboss is a high volume capasity, fast burning, intended for reduced loads for the large cases like .308, 30-30, 45-70, ect. It was made to replace the powder that was used for the cowboy shoots, cartridges. It works good in my 308 bolt gun. In the 300W you can only get 7grs in the case and does not have enough energy to cycle the action of AR15. It could be used for single shot. I did not chrono, but I think it is slow. It is safe because you cannot double charge. My 762x39 will hold 9grs and will not cycle with it using the same bullets.

Thanks for the info. The best load I have found so far is 15 grs H110. 168 hpbt. 17 grains blows the primer out. I have tried aa#9 , but it want cycle the action. I have a Shaw barrel upper I bought on GB, 1 in 9 twist. I don't know how the gas port is set up. It is not adjustable. I guess I will have to buy a adjustable to get it to cycle.

Sierra shows 15.6 as max for 168gr MHPBT and H110. Always work the load up and with caution. Google 300 whisper loads and you will sort and find a sight with Sierra and others. Your barrel has a carbine location gas block and should cycle these loads.

As Fritzcat eluded to, Trailboss is probably an ideal powder for the .300 Whisper. It's great for using in large volume cases where you would typically only use a small amount of powder.
It is sometimes difficult to load subsonic .308 and similar rifle cartridges because you have so much room left in the case after charging with powder. This can make it difficult to get consistent results. One solution to this was to make reduced capacity cases, where the outside dimensions of the case were the same, but the case walls are very thick, only leaving a small amount of room for powder. Trailboss makes it easier to fill the case without overcharging it.
The .300 Whisper was designed to efficiently push a heavy bullet with minimal extra room in the case. There is no need to use a bulky powder like Trailboss. As noted, you probably can't get enough Trailboss in the case to push the bullet anywhere near 1000 fps.

Thanks for the reply. My rifle doesn't want to feed, someone suggest using Trail Boss. His opion was it was cycling to fast and not picking up the round from the mag. I have shot 15 grs H110 w/165 gr bullets with few failer to feed. With subsoinc it just want cycle. I am using Colt and military maginzines.

With the carbine gas block location that you have, the faster burning powders have completely burned before the bullet reaches the gas port, resulting in lower chamber-bore-gas tube pressure and not cycling the bolt back far enough to reach the next round. Spook has recomended one of the slowest burn rate powders that has proven reliable. Look at Hornady web site for their burn rate chart and you may get a better understanding.

I'm looking forward to trying Trailboss in the 30BR but I think it is too bulky for the Whisper case. Details in due course when I get my hands on a sample.
