-B and C duramaxx stock
-timney trigger
-suppressor of some sort? any suggestions?
-krylon paint job

you'll want to tighten up the twist

and check over @ savageshooters about getting a BR based cartridge to feed through a savage action unless itsa single shot.?
and consider a riflebasix trigger.

So for 300gr SMK's are you saying to go with 1:7? How many grooves?

Even without the case feeding issues, with the 300gr pills - would the extra OAL prevent it from feeding through a SA?

There are many others, but for a suppressor you might try Elite Iron. Their Sierra model in .338 lists for $925. Or, you can build your own (after getting ATF approval on a Form 1 and paying the $200 tax stamp) if you have access to a lathe and a mill.

I went 6.5 after talking to JD and a barrelmaker thats done huge orders for barrels for military subsonic projects.... but I had lathe turned bullets in mind from the beginning.

The length with 300's is the saving grace of the cartridge as far as aiming it toward the chamber.
My guess is that the new center feed box would do well, but I'd not like building the rifle and find out it doesnt feed.It would be the consistent ejection from a Savage that would make me wonder. Easy enough to ask where its a known commodity.
Also...with a Rem you have the option of a coned bolt.... very nice option in a push feed action.

I would like to use the savage style action so that i could build it myself. I think that it would be a great learning opportunity and i would like it that much more. If it doesn't work, i guess ill put the old barrel back on and find some other project...
