Update on Build

Here is the build so far. Gas system is waiting for a correct tube ... everything else works:

Upper
16" threaded SS bbl and three position gas block from tp555
Black Rain Ordnance billet upper/ejection port cover and charging handle
YHM rifle length light rail free floating hand guard
YMH rail end cap
YHM ladder covers
FA BCG

Scope

3-9x40 Pentax with Ballistic Plex reticle

Lower
Black Rain Ordnance billet
RRA LPK with 3# trigger by Bill Springfield
Gen 2 Mod 1 anti rotation pins
Hogue grip
Brownell's ambi sling receiver endplate
Mil-spec receiver extension
LMT SOPMOD stock

Will be fun when the gas system works!

Mike

I'm about to build one almost like it. What is your tube issues? Where is your gas port?
Thanks

Gas block is at the pistol position. Apparently there are two pistol gas tube lengths ... 6.7" and 7.5" The tp555 gas block needs a 6.7" block. Even than one has to remove 7/8 or an inch of the distal end (end going into the block).

I bought my first tube from Del-Ton as it was the only place I could find one listed as in stock. tp555 suggested I try M1S as a source. (I had not thought to look there.)

So I've ordered one from them ... hope it gets in soon!

Tubes is going out in todays mail.I have specs for my gas block tubes. Max length of 5.750" from tip to gas block shoulder that touches the barrel. You can cut an inch off the tube and adjust the length.I made barrels for Tromix that had the gas block area 3/16" farther away.So there is some slack. At the 5.750" spec tube is about .085" from touching the inside of the key.The tube goes into the key over .8" deep.

Hooraaaaahhhhh!!!!!

tp555 delivers the one that REALLY works!

125 gr NBTs; 16.5 gr WW296; WSR load cycles properly and bolt hold-open works too!

Just checked for cycling. Will check accuracy when the weather is a bit better and I can find the box of loaded ammo.

(Used a Stag lower with an RRA two stage NM trigger. Need also to check the BRO lower with the Bill Springfield single stage trigger ... but that won't be a test of cycling I think. More a test of hammer fall.)

THANK YOU, Sir!

Looks great. I am also building a similar setup and have been in contact with TP555. I am going to order a 16" barrel in chromoly (black) threaded as yours is with the 3 position gas block in the pistol length. I am waiting for pricing. What profile is your barrel? How long was the turn around time from when you ordered till you received everything. I hope he can supply the tube for me as well to ease hunting for parts. Also, whose flash hider did you install. It looks like a YHM.

My build is going to be on my R-15 to use as a hog/deer gun.

I hope his gas block will slide inside the fore end. I want to keep the all camo look. If I don't use a flash hider, I may just use a thread protector.

Are you able to chrono your loads. I am curios what speeds to expect from a 16" barrel from 125's and 150's. any plans to run subsonic?

Thanks
