I'd thought I'd share the story of my first bayonet which happened to be an M9. In 1988 I decided to purchase my first rifle which happened to be a Colt AR15 R6600 (HBAR). Back then I didn't know the difference between "centerfire" and "rimfire", but I knew I wanted something that looked pretty cool. The AR15 was it! Of course, I wanted a bayonet to go along with it. My FFL dealer convinced me to purchase a Buck M9 since, as he put it, "that's what the Feds use for their M16s." Long story short... I bought the M9, put it away, and pretty much forgot about it. I sort of rediscovered it in 2005.
It's a pretty early commercial example. You guys probably know more about it than I do. It came with a Bianchi International "Universal Military Holster" with a Phrobis dolphin embossed on it. Pretty cool. Here are a few photos... Hope this works:
