Post Registered vs New

Okay, I've tried to read all about the Lightning Link as much as possible before asking this question. I get the part that in '86 the Lightning Links were registered in order to be legal. It's hard to find them now and if you can are very expensive. If a private citizen makes one it is illegal.

My question is "Can a licensed Class Manufacturer of NFA items legally manufacture more Lightning Links and register them?"

I'm figuring that if this is not so, then the already made LLs are like the dinosaurs. Soon to be extinct once lost, damaged beyond repair, or hoarded. If this question was posted before, I apologize.

If it was not made AND registered PRIOR to 1986 then it would not be legal for private sale. NFA makers can make new LL or any other NFA item, if it is a machine gun then it can NOT be for private sale.

Here is an FAQ on NFA stuff I wrote up, http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=365687

Here is where the 1986 date came in, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firearm...Protection_Act
