Handguard problem

I have a 10.5" Noveske .300/221 barrel and it is .875" under the gas block. The gas block is in the pistol position. I want to put one of tp555's 3 position gas blocks on it and he said I need a handguard with a 2" ID to clear the block. The problem is that I haven't been able to find a free float handguard that is 2" ID.

I prefer it to be railed and midlength but at this point anything that is 2" will be sufficient. Anyone know where I can find one that size?

I had just typed in a whole thing about how he can put a beveled head on the gas valve and it will clear most ff tubes and then realized you said .875 not .750. Is he making a totally new designed block for you in order to accomodate the .875 diameter bore?

No, he's not making a new design. I think he has them for .750, .875, and .920" barrels. He is the one that told me I would need a 2" ID handguard to clear the gas block but he didn't know which brands or models would be 2" ID. I didn't have any luck getting info on AR15.com but thought perhaps someone on this board had tackled this problem already. If I can't find one, I will probably have to have my barrel turned to .750 to accomodate the smaller block, as that one will work with a 1.75" ID handguard.

Contact Yankee Hill Machine and ask what the smallest inside diameter is of their ff tubes. I believe I recall one of their tubes being larger diameter than usual and I know they are two piece design like you would need.

I have 21 AR's and have built many more than that, the largest
ID i have found and used is 1.75.
You can find 1.75 ID handguards from DanDef, YHM, DPMS, OLY, JP
and there is others.
You will need to do some mods to a long handguard and the gas block
if you want to use TP555's multi position blocks.
I used the JP Vtac because the vents lined up to my adjustable gas block.
