CH4D 300 fireball Trim Die for Dillon Rapid trim

Anyone use this setup to make 300/221 brass out of .223?

Do you simply lube up the 223 case and run it through and out comes a trimmed and formed 300 fireball case?

Thx

I have ordered brass from one of the guys here who trims 223 cases and makes the 300 brass but several guys do it.

I first size, decap and swage my 223 brass then chop it at the shoulder. As a final step I finish it in a CH4D trim die.

I tried to order one in December and was told by CH it would be five months. I tried using a shortened Dillon 308 die on my 550 but I had to modify my tool head to vacume the chips.

I just talked to Dave over at CH4D yesterday (Really Nice Guy) and he said they just got 15 or so back from heat treat and should have them ready in a couple of weeks. Says they are all mixed in with 2000 other dies that came back so they just start working on the batch of dies and when they run across it and finish it is when it is done.
I went ahead and placed my order.

Funy side note, He asked "Did somone put an article out? all of a sudden I am getting a bunch of orders for these things. They have been around for 10 years and I may have only sold 10 or 15 of them in that time. All of a sudden I'm gettting a bunch of requests for them. "

Hopefully they find one sooner than later for me and get it out, I'm itching to start converting my 223 brass.

Is this die different then the Dillon 308 die with .60 taken off of it? I've been trying to get my 650 up and trimmin but have had no luck so far. I've watched that u-tube video of the dillon makin whisper brass and I'm convinced theres something not being shared. I dont blame them if they are sellin brass because if they tell everbody they wont sell as much.

Jon

I tried the shortened Dillon 308 trim die with mixed results. I was able to trim ok but, on my 550, there was not enough room where the hole in the die is to vacuume the chips out. I'm looking for someone with a Dillon 7.62x39 trimmer. I was told by Dillon that the 7.62x39 trimmer has a longer shaft because of the shorter case.

I used my RCBS Rock Chucker. Plenty of room to attached the vacuum collar and still trim the case to proper length.
