Got any reloading ideas for a T/C?

First post on the forum, been reading for a while. I was hoping for specific info from other shooters that have a similar setup as me. I have the 300 Whisper in a T/C Custom Shop barrel, 16.25 inch barrel with 1 in 10” twist. I am looking to shoot supersonic for whitetail deer. With the Nosler Ballistic Tips, I can’t seat the 125 gr. out far enough in the T/C barrel (throat too long?) but can seat the 150 gr. Also, I’m shooting H110 and have H4227 (but have considered other powders that are recommended) in .223 brass bought from SSK.
Last thought, I did load up Sierra 135 gr. Single shot pistol bullets for hunting last year. Missed a doe and found the bullet in the dirt; unexpanded with the lead tip knocked off. Not impressed with that. Bottom line: is the 150 gr. too heavy and slow for hunting? Any suggestions on bullets or powders are appreciated!

The Speer 150gr. RNSP should expand just fine in the 300whisper. The bullet was made for low velocities in the 1,800fps area. My own pet load for this bullet is:
Winchester SR primer.
H110 Powder 18gr.
COL. 2.01"
2,000fps
1,320 foot pounds.

I DO consider this to be a top end charge of powder. Each gun is different, so creep up on this load data and watch your own pressure signs. This is out of a 16" AR15.

Gos.

Hey, Gos;

Hope you pick this up, it's been a while since you posted about the 150 RNSP.

I've been considering using that round for whitetail. I'm in hardwoods New England where men are men and ranges are short! This old stubby bullet should work just fine.

What kind of ballistics are you getting, range-wise? What do you zero your gun at, and what do you consider the limits of effectiveness of your load (2000 fps @ muzzle)? Is it good enough for 150 yards?

Thanks;

K9 Handler
