Remington Model 700 Trigger

I would like to have a trigger like my Mauser on my Remington 700. The 700 has no travel on the trigger and the firing pin is released. My Mauser can travel half the distance, you can feel pressure on the trigger, then a little squeeze and it fires.

How can I get the Mauser effect on my 700?

Depending on the year of your 700 your trigger is likely adjustable. There are 3 adjustments-take up (which is what you seem to want), overtravel and pull weight. Take up has a screw which limits how far the trigger moves before it releases....in your mauser rifle you have a 2 stage trigger with a lot of take up. In your 700 you have a single stage trigger with essentially no takeup. You can loosen up the take up screw and that will give you some movement in the trigger. The overtravel adjustment limits the amount the trigger moves after the sear releases. There is a screw to adjust it and also one that increases or decreases the amount a spring bears on the trigger to change the pull weight. Look at some of the remington 700 websites for detailed info on which screws do what and how much is safe.

hope that helps

Frank
