XM9 anyone

For those of you who want an XM9 over 29 Phrobis trials bayonet and can afford it, Simpson Ltd. out of Galesburg, IL has one for only $4,500. A General Cutlery for only $995 (I think a thousand would be too much); and a USMC 1991 M9 version for only $595. I think Simpson Ltd. prides themselves on never selling at or under a market value price.

Bob Simpson & M9s??? A strange combination! This is a aspect of collecting way outside his norm. Consignment items, one would suspect. Humm... I went to his site, but the GenCut & 1991 BUCK USMC were not to be seen, so must have sold them. The XM9, from what I could see, appears to be legit, although from the photos someone put something into the XM9|29 marking to make it stand out better. He has a hefty price on it, so will be interesting to see if the M9 sells for that.

GenCut Sold

Gentlemen,

I see that the GenCut LANCAY sold on the Simpson Ltd. site. I would have thought that at near $1000 it would not sell - at least not this soon anyway. I bought my GenCut LANCAY about 3 or 4 years ago for about $300 from a Louisanna dealer. Frank Trzaska sold one for about $600 on his site a year or two ago (not real sure about time and price). While it seems to me that the general run-of-the-mill M9s have been decreasing in value over the last couple of years, it appears that the hard to find stuff is actually increasing in value. Also I am finding that the hard to find M9s are getting harder to find! Example - On ebay there hasn't been much in the way of fullered Lancays or Marto M9A1s like there used to be.

Colin: It seems the LanCays are beginning to find a following. Perhaps those with an interest in the MPBS M9 already have a few Phrobis pieces, and are now turning their attention to the numerous LanCay variants; both military contract and commercial bayonets. Another part of this might be more information about the M9 is in printed form, or available online from Forums such as this one. Such resources could be resulting in greater collector interest as well, which may have dried up some of the earlier LanCay M9s we used to see.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is probably the most expensive M9 ever sold.

Carlo:
I think you must be correct if they got the full asking price. Probably on "lay-away" until Christmas, 2015...
