Anyone can help me with buying this M9

I'm very interested in a M9 bayonet which recently listed on ebay, look at the following page:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6521845245

I have limited knowledge about M9 knives, is this particular M9 made by BUCK or Phrobis? about which year made? is this one the commercail model? and..how much can I get it?

Thanks in advance!

Your two posts have been combined....

What do you want to know? This knife is a M9 Bayonet made by Buck for commercial (Non-USGI but civilian sales). The bayonet was made in 1987. All Commercial bayonets of this period have both Buck and Phrobis Markings.

There is more info on the Buck and Phrobis M9s here:

http://m9bayonet.com/buck-phrobis-m9.html

The knife looks to be in good shape to me... There is an identical version of this M9 on the forums here: http://www.quarterbore.net/forums/showthread.php?t=46 In fact, I have a knife with these same markings in my collection.

Thank you Quarterbore. I wanna know if this M9 collectable, and the reasonable price, and does only this commercial version M9 come with the green box packaging? because I've never seen any other M9s c/m the same box.

Value is hard to guess anymore as many prices on eBAY seem high to me lately. The Box looks correct to me as does the paperwork. In fact, my box looks exactly the same.

As for the knife being collectable... well certainly it is collectable if you don't have one in your collection and you want it. There isn't a whole lot that is particularily special about this M9 in my oppinion however. Just the same, it will sell for more then a new LanCay or Ontario simply because of the manufacturer, age, better worksmanship, etc.

I assume you are new to M9s... what do you want it for?

If you want to have a really nice knife that shows the best of the best of M9 Bayonet manufacture history this would be a good example without costing you a huge fortune for a really rare or collectable model.

If you want a knife to carry around in the woods and use it as a camp knife then there are much cheaper options that will work just as well for less then $50. I just bought one of the Taiwan versions for $35 and it looks like the knife you are looking at and it will make a great camp knife without my spending the kind of money a Buck in new condition will bring...

Yes, I'm new to M9s, and wondering there are too many versions to make a choice. If you have surplus M9s that in new condition, can you offer me one?
