I joined the ranks of Australian Buck M9 Bayonet owners.

I have been watching ebay for a while and finally decided to try ebay.com.au and well I finally got one! I have to work out the shipping and payment with the seller but glad I finally have one

Here is the auction

It works out to be about $167.28 according to ebay:

Quote:
This is a knife I brought several years ago. It is in good condition and was used only on a few occasions. The scabbard has a poch for a sharpening stone that is not with the knife. The knife can be used as wire cutters when combined with the bottom of the scabbard. Good luck.

On 26-Jan-06 at 13:10:36 AEDST, seller added the following information:

One side of the blade is marked with BUCK next to an arrow on top of the number 188 and USA. The scabbard is also marked with the word BUCK on top of an arrow.
Photo from auction is attached

Now I need to figure out how and where I can get an international money order in AU$ as it looks like this seller doesn't like paypal. Anybody have experience with doing international money orders?

I bought an Australian Buck m9 too...I called my bank up to find out which branch did tranactions in foreign currency and went to that bank. I was able to purchase from them a bank draft for the amount needed payable in Australian funds from a bank in Sidney .

Cool

Mate, welcome to the Aussie M9 club. I have one too! If I may make a suggestion, contact the seller, and ask him if you can do a direct deposit into his bank from yours, like a wire transfer from your acct to his, all in AUD, and its pretty much instant. Saves some time, and BS, but might cost you a bit of $$, but its worth it.

About MO's be warned that even many MOs that are international are not cashable in Australia (I had to return a USPO MO once), and incurr a $15 cashing fee on this end if so, which is rare. A cheque from your bank in AUD may suffice (it will have a fee too), but I would go with a direct deposit.

After living here in Australia for now going on 12 yrs, I have had many difficulties in MOs from the USA and Canada. Thats why i do the direct deposits or paypal.

You'll love your M9, and you got it for a great price, almost a steal.

Cold beers,

Wes

All the better to start an official M9 page

Hello to everybody and greetings from Italy!
When I bought my Buck Australian M9 I sent the money to Australia with a bank wire transfer (paypal was not an option).
As Wes said, this could be a little bit expensive for you, but it is safe and quite fast (if I remember correctly it took 5 days for the money to be in the seller's bank account).
Great find, anyway!

I have been swamped lately so I have not had much time to hang out...

I will share that getting this money for the Aussy M9 proved to be a nightmare! None of my local banks had moey orders in $AU, the US Post Office does not sell $AU international money orders, and I tried to get something online through companies like Western Union with no luck!

I finally called American express and they had two options, a certified check in $AU that would take 3-business days to get or American Express travelers checks in $AU that I could get on the spot.

I ended up buying and using $AU travelers checks to pay for the knife... In hindsight, I am not so sure that this hastle was worth it as I had to take half a days vacation just to get the money to pay for the knife. Most of that was to stop by banks or the post office to find that they couldn't help me.

Just figured I would share as if I do this again I will check with the seller to see if they will take American Express travelers checks FIRST and be done with it...
