how to take pictures of knives/bayonets

Hi,
I attempted to take some pictures of my bayonets with a digital camera, but as you can see in the M9 bayonets forum the results are...disappointing.
So, could someone with some photographic skills post a small "tutorial" on how to take pictures of knife/bayonets?

The trick is in the camera. I have a Canon Digital Rebel SLR with a Macro lens that lets me focus the lens really easily.

Most people with smaller digital cameras have a problem because they are tryying to take a picture of something too close for the camera to focus on the object. I think that may be some of the trouble you are having.

Another thing with digital cameras is they tend to require a lot of light. The best way to get pictures with a digital camera that look great is to take them outside on an overcast (slightly cloudy) day. If you have to take the photos indoors, lots of light from multiple directions tends to give better results for me.

The best thing about a digital camera is you can take a huge number of pictures and just save the few that you really like. Thanks for sharing your photos!

Ken

thank you for your suggestions!!!!
I just went outside and I took new pictures of the M9A1s.
I replace the original ones with them in the M9A1 topics.
In your opinion, are they acceptable now?
What about the light?
