where's the piston/oprod uppers?

Where are all th 300 wtf piston/oprod uppers? Every ar mfg has been goin apeshit over piston/oprod uppers in 223. All I want is a piston/oprod side charging 300wtf upper shorter than 12" that functions with a 3 way gas system! So where are they?

I think the major drawback, at least with us pistol position gas port guys, is that we don't want a short 4" (?) forend. Size matters, at least in this case

Yeah, I looked into getting an Adams Arms kit for my first build and the issue is the lack of handguard options with an internal diameter tall enough to accommodate the piston and the limited barrel diameter options (it has to be .750", while my barrel was .875" at the gas block). The Adams kit has worked great on my carbine .223 and it has the 3 way gas adjustment. If you have the right barrel and don't mind a really short handguard (Samson makes the Adams branded rails, but they aren't cheap), you could easily build one if you got a barrel with the right dimensions.

IIRC, Adams had a .300 BLK on display at the Shot Show this year.

If you really need the left hand side cocker, the new Rock River PDS system could probably be made into .300 WTF - not sure if they plan to. The only other ones I know of are the American Spirit Arms setup, which they will retrofit your Adams carrier to work in their upper. Either of these would be kickass setups with piston and side charger!

not trying to "stir the pot" but I honestly don't see the advantage of a piston system in a civilian gun that is NOT going to be used in a combat/warfare role.

they are less quiet when using a suppressor than conventional direct impingement gas systems. this is a myth amongst the industry that several suppressor mfgr's have agreed with me on.

the only real advantage of a piston system is that they do run a fuzz cleaner and cooler. but that said .. its really a non-issue in my honest opinion.

Being a GI that plays games over there too often, I think piston guns are not worth it. For right now. Once some bugs get worked out and maybe some manufactures can come up with some commonality of parts, they might be a good deal.

Till then, I know where you can find a few arms room with HK 416s sitting there not getting used along with their heavy junk steel mags.
