125 grain nosler ballistic tip with vv110

hi all,
i'm just starting to reload for my new whisper.
i have 2 bullets. lee C309-200-R cast bullet which i plan to use subsonic and 125 grain nosler ballistic tip as a supersonic bullet.

can you help me with a load for the 125 bt?

i've seen references up to 2400 fps for this bullet, but the only vv load i see, for 125SPT sierra bullet, is from the sierra reloading guide, using 17.7 grains of vv n110 at 2000fps.

the powder i have is vv110 and i can get other vv's as well.

The Sierra manual lists a 125gn flatbase at a COL of 2.050" up to 17.7gn.

I've loaded the Nos BT's at a length of 2.085-2.100" at a starting load of VihtN110 of 15gn. QuickLoad shows this as 100% load density and a relatively safe chamber pressure as a starting point.

Depending on changes in COL and components such as primers, move up in small increments and watch for signs of pressure.

Hi,
In my rifle (cz Fox ,30/221 PTG chamber), I am loading 16.5 grains of N110 behind the 125 gr nosler BT. The COAL is 2.180 and I get 2340 fps in a 16" barrel.
More powder and I start to see sign of pressure on my cases.
Again, start at 15 grains and go up progressively.
Good Luck
ND

I have used the 17.7 grain load and the velocity was closer to 2250 FPS in my 10.5" AR barrel.

All the Sierra loads are much faster in my barrel than in theirs. YMMV.
