M10?

Has anyone seen the new "M10" bayonet from Ontario? It looks like it has a 1095 carbon blade instead of stainless, the grip adapted from the OKC marine bayonet, and a new lightweight sheath.

I heard about these bayonets a while back but haven't been able to get any definitive information on them yet. "the grip adapted from the OKC marine bayonet". I think it's the other way around. The USMC bayonet (OKC3S) grip was adapted from this grip. Prior to the latest USMC bayonet trials, Ontario put together a small number of bayonets to illustrate to the USMC that they had an "off the shelf" bayonet that met the USMC requirements. Those bayonets had a grip identical to the new M10 bayonet. I think there's a very good chance that Ontario had a bunch of these grips laying around and wanted to get rid of them. They then put together these M10 bayonets using these left over grips and standard M9 bayonet components.

Does anyone know how the blade is marked?

You are correct that the M10 is a plastic scabbard made for the M7 bayonet. The M10 designation given to the new Ontario bayonet is a commercial one, not a military assigned designation. When the new USMC bayonet first came out many people were calling the OKC3S an M10.

New guy here, I'm interested in information on the OKC3S as well. I've seen an NSN stock tag for one, and it says-

"
<barcode>
1095015075729

NSN: 1095-01-507-5729
CAGE 2V376 P/N 1901
BAYONET, KNIFE ONLY
1 EACH
DAAE20-99-D-0135/0009
M10 1/05
"

This information would lead me to believe that the OKC3S has a military designation as M10 as well. Hope this information can help!

Has anyone field tested the USMC bayonet vs. the M9? I'm curious as to it's durability, performance, etc in comparison to the M9. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I am starting to get some time and I want to get a better grasp on what the M10 Bayonet is or is not. I took the off chance that this is going to be a real designation and added another domain name to our collection before some knife dealer gets it on us... The new domain was just purchased today so there is nothng to see yet:

If it ends up that the M10 is nothing but a comercial designation of a version of the M9 bayonet I will simply mirror our other website:

Thumbs up Update for anyone who cares

I got a reponse from Ontario regarding the M10. Their reponse (and my original e-mail) are below. I'm going to order one of these, since I think the 1095 blade will solve the only real issue I have with the M9 i.e. it doesn't hold an edge well.

============================================

Dear Mr. ChiefPilot:

The M10 Bayonet does have a 1095 Carbon Steel Blade with Zinc Phosphate
Finish. This is a new production knife for Ontario Knife and we have
not shipped to our Distributors. We are expecting to ship within the
next 2 to 3 weeks.

Thank you,
Diane Stanbro
Ontario Knife Company
