Del-ton 300 Fireball Barrels

How can I go about getting a chamber gauge for my Del-ton barrel? Is this a 1.355 or 1.400 chamber?

I am having terrible times trying to get converted 223/556 brass to chamber properly. I had no problems at all with Corbon 300/221 ammo. I suspect that I am having the military brass issue being discussed here lately.

I have a M1S upper that I have been working with for a little bit and at first I was having trouble getting the bolt to close on my brass. The trouble I was having was that I was not forming the shoulder back far enough because my resizing die was not set low enough in my press.

I know it's not an M1S and not Del-ton, but maybe it'll help.

What press, dies, shellholder, and brass are you using?

Initially set your fl die to the point that its actually camming over at the top of the stroke, trim your brass to 1.355, fireform it to your chamber, then use your case gauge to make sure you're setting the shoulder back only .002 or so.

Make sure you arent attempting a "jam" with regard to your OAL..gas guns were never meant to work that way and getting the large diameter of your bullet behind the rib in your magazine can only help feeding.

You guys are making way more brain damage out of this than is required. knock it off.

I have Redding dies, all kinds of brass mostly mil surp, a Lee single stage press. I initially set the shell holder to touch the die at the maximum stroke. The OAL is 0.020" off the lands, so it shouldn't be an issue.

I have my RCBS Rockchucker just barely cam over with an RCBS shellholder, a Redding FL sizing die, and commercial 223 brass.

My chamber just doesn't like milsurp brass even with a very shaved down shell holder to allow more shoulder bump to occur.

The shoulder of a resized milsrup case just gets stuck even if I bump the shoulder so much that the extractor will slip off and the firing pin can't reach the primer.

I have ruled out the head of the case as well as the neck length and it still doesn't help.

I can chamber a formed LC case and it gets better after being fire formed but it is pretty well stuck in the chamber on the first loading.

I've been told it is just how some chambers are.

If I form a piece of commercial brass with the press set to just cam over, the case just plops into the chamber gauge just like it should with that hollow clink sound and drops right back out when turned upside down.

About all I use is GI brass.

I trim mine with a CH4D form/trim dies and Redding dies.

No issues here.

That is great for you but not necessarily the case for everyone.

I did anneal a LC case last night at the new shoulder and neck and then I resized it with the same settings I use for commercial brass.

It now drops in the gauge just as easily as commercial brass.
